Navigation for bbPress

I like all things WordPress.  So, when I heard about bbPress – discussion forum software done by the WordPress folks – I figured I’d try it out.  And I do like this most recent version.  I also like the Navigation theme that I used for a while, enough so that I wanted to port it for use with bbPress, which I’ve done.

You can preview the theme live at Forum Shamus.
You can download here:

Simply upload the navigation folder to your my-templates folder and select it from the Presentation menu in the admin panel of your bbPress installation.  Then, sit back, and enjoy!

New WP Theme

I love this new WordPress theme I’m using.  Honestly, it’s nice to be back into three columns.  I’d realized a while back that in a 2-column setup, my sidebar was pretty cluttered (my archives, categories, and blogroll just keep fluffing), but I hadn’t found a different theme that I liked better.  I’ve become something of a fan of minimalistic themes, and while this one isn’t quite as lite as some of my other options, it is still pretty clean and crisp and nearly javascript-free (if it even has any; I really haven’t taken the time to study the code that closely).  And of course, it’s widget-happy, which makes me happy, since I have a lot of custom sidebar content and widgets make it really quick and easy to move that content around.  Plus, I love the whole WP-dashboard look.

So, enjoy the theme.  Unless something truly egregious shows up, it’ll be sticking around awhile.

Theme Change

I’ve grown rather fond of the minimalist themes for WordPress recently.  I really like the crisp, clean feel, and frankly, they just load faster.  So, I’ve switched over to a new theme called One Penny that I think I’m going to use for a little while.  I’ve also removed a few of the widgets that were slowing things down a bit.  I decided they were unnecessary to what I really want to do with my blog, so they’re taking a break.

Let me know if anything is difficult to read or if there are any other problems.  I can always tweak things a bit to make them more accessible.

Space Style for 3k2

For anyone interested, I’ve customized the Vader style for the WordPress 3k2 theme.  Basically, I just changed the banner image and modified the color for headings to match a little better.  As much as I love the Vader theme, it was time for something a little bit different.  Feel free to download and use it – Space style for 3k2.

Thematically Speaking

Well, no brilliant writing again today, sadly.  Time seems to be getting away from me more and more these days.  I did manage, however, to finally convert to the 3K2 theme, complete with all the widgety goodness that goes with it.  It’s still slightly clunky in some aspects (IE really doesn’t seem to like style sheets the way Firefox does), but I definitely prefer the 3-column look to the 2-column I’ve been using.  Lemme know if particular elements don’t work or simply destroy your eyesight.  I’ll see what I can do to tweak things as necessary.

And hopefully tomorrow, I’ll have both time and energy to devote to something that is actually intellectually stimulating.
