Book Giveaway: Apex Digest #6

Ok, this week, I’m not giving a book away, exactly, but it may just be the next best thing.  Heck, it may even be better.  And it’s a perfect giveaway for Halloween!

I’ve been a huge fan of Apex Digest since the journal’s inception a couple of years ago.  Jason Sizemore, the founder and editor-in-chief, has done a remarkable job of building this new science fiction and horror journal from the ground up.

Now – I have an extra copy of Apex Digest Issue #6.  Mint condition.  Never been read.  Except maybe by the little fuzz monster that lives under my desk.  It’s possible he might have cracked the cover one night while I was sleeping.  But if he did, he cleaned up when he was done because the journal still looks pristine.

So what is Apex Digest?  It’s science fiction.  It’s horror.  Even better, it’s the love-child of the two.  And it’s fabulous.  If you like your sci-fi with a bit of darkness (or vice versa), then Apex Digest is for you, and I have just the appetizer to whet your appetite.

Apex #6 contains stories from writers like Ben Bova, Bryn Sparks, Mary Robinette Kowal, and more.  There are also interviews with Poppy Z. Brite and Kage Baker.

Just leave a comment (with valid email address) on this entry for your chance to win Issue #6 of Apex Digest.  One comment only per person, please.  Entrants with multiple comments will be disqualified.  I’ll randomly choose a winner next Wednesday, Nov. 7.  Everything clear?  Yes?  Good.

Hey, Jim!  I just want to add to your thoughts on Apex, and say that’s it my favorite mag.  Glad to see you’re spreading the word.

I’ve got a subscription, so I hope your #6 goes to a new Apex reader.  Once they start, they’ll be hooked.

    Hugs,
    Fran

Apex#6 is one of my personal favorites.  I have it already, so you need not include my name in the mix.  But I will pass the word along so that your comment box may prosper, and a lucky reader may bask in the glory of Apex.

    Hey Jim,

I think this is a wonderful idea. I would definitely give issue #6 a good home if I win, however, now I’ve learned about your blog so I win anyway.

    Thank you,—Greg “The Undead Rat”

The Apex Digest #6 sounds very interesting.  Back when I was a an addicted bookworm, my favorite subject was Sci Fi.  And I sought out books with multiple stories.  So this is “right up my alley”.

Oh the memories… I was the sick child that read through my entire English Literature book the first week we got them.  LOL…

I’ve known the editor of Apex since Kindergarten.  Apex no. 6 contains a story from one of my good friends, Robby Sparks, who I’ve also known since 1st grade.  I got a preview of his story, Indigestion, before it was published.  Jason and Robby started writing together back in grade school—they were a creative couple of guys!!  I missed out on getting this copy.  Would be very cool to have.

Congratulations to Joe Sherry, who is the winner for this week’s giveaway!

One note of interest: I’d like to continue doing book giveaways on a regular basis here, whether they be actual books or speculative fiction journals of some kind, but unfortunately I’m running low on materials to give away.  I have one more book for one final giveaway and then I may have to put book giveaways on hold for awhile.  If anyone has any books or journals they’d like to donate to the cause, please let me know.  I have a lot of fun with these and I think my readers do, too.

Gregory Fisher » You’re quite welcome!  I actually forgot about doing my book giveaway for this week, so I think I’ll hold off and do it next Wednesday, just to stay on a somewhat regular schedule with these things.  I hope you – and everyone else – will come back and participate!
